Master Shi Yan Feng

Master Shi Yan Feng is a 34th generation warrior monk from the Songshan Shaolin Temple in China. His Kung Fu journey began at 3 years old. Despite being very young, Shi Yan Feng was very passionate about pursing a life in Kung Fu and, with the support of his family, left home at the age of 4 and began his tenure at the Shaolin Temple.

He began teaching Kung Fu in Houston, Texas in 2002. He is now the owner of the American Shaolin Kung Fu School, which has two locations, leading hundreds of students of all ages. His patience and passion for teaching allows him to effectively channel each student to reach their full potential at any age.


Through the Texas Kung Fu Festival, he hopes to promote martial arts, and its positive impact on a healthy and active lifestyle. As well as, involving and influencing students of martial arts, and the community, with the amazing benefits that Kung Fu has to offer

Second Master Shi Yan Feng

Second Master Shi Yan Feng was born in the city of Dengfeng, Henan Province, China and began training in Kung Fu at 5 years old. By age 6, he was accepted as a student at the Shaolin Temple. He won various championships in the fist, staff, and sword forms, and trained with several local master-level instructors to advance his training.

He was officially proclaimed a 34th generation disciple for the Songshan Shaolin Temple in June 2010. Shortly thereafter, he went on to earn his Kung Fu 4th Level Certificate awarded by Chinese Shaolin Kung Fu Association.

He is the younger brother of First Master Shi Yan Feng and continues the family tradition with a career in Shaolin Kung Fu. As of February of 2011 he has been teaching at American Shaolin Kung Fu School, Houston location.

Jenny Pless


Jenny Pless trains in Shaolin Kung Fu under Master Shi Yan Feng and Master Shi Yan Feng II. As the first student to become a disciple at American Shaolin Kung Fu, she is also an instructor. Jenny Pless is also the owner and Master Instructor of Jenny’s Taekwondo. She currently is 5th dan in Taekwondo, and has been teaching for the past 25 years.


She believes that every martial artist is part of one big martial arts family, and that all styles of martial arts are cool and unique. Her mission in life is to support all styles of martial arts and provide equal opportunity in martial arts to everyone.

Master Ernie Wu

has been teaching Chinese Martial Arts for more than 36 years.
He is one of disciples of Grandmaster Hsiao Tang Wei of 8 Step Praying Mantis, and student of Grandmaster Mao Ching Li, one of the great Grandmaster of Northern Long Fist in Taiwan.
In Houston, he has been teaching Northern Long Fist, 8 Step Praying Mantis since 1986 and has organized Chinese Martial Arts Exhibitions for more than 20 years.

Master Brad Rayan

Shaolin Wing Chun Kung Fu Academy, Inc/ Meng’s Martial Arts of Katy.

One of very few exclusive schools in the world certified by the internationally famous Wing Chun Museum to teach both Yip Man Wing Chun system as well as Meng’s Shaolin Wing Chun.
Master Ryan is one of the only four Master Ranks in the world in the Shaolin Wing Chun Martial Arts Federation.

Master Shi Xing Hao

31st generation Shaolin Temple Monks. Trained at Shaolin Temple since 1985.
His skill brought him to further recognition in some martial arts movies. He has been travel around the world to perform.

Master Gao (Shi Yan Xiang)

34th generation descendent Shaolin Martial Art.

Master Gao trained and resided as a Shaolin Monk at the renowned Shaolin Temple in China from 1995.

After years of hard training, Master Gao was invited to many countries around the world to perform and teaching kungfu. 

In 2007, he got invited to perform for “peace mission” and the SCO joint anti-terror military national service man. In 2012 to 2016, he also performed at Microsoft Company and University of Washington.

Master Shi Chang Yuan

Master Shi Chang Yuan is 33th generation Shaolin Kungfu Master.

At the age of 12, he left his home town to study at the Shaolin Temple.

Master Chang Yuan believes practicing kungfu is a way to find balance between physical and emotional peace.

Shifu Chang Yuan continues to pursue his beliefs in serving the community and dedicating himself to helping others

In 2011, Shifu Chang Yuan came to Las Vegas and since then, he has worked diligently to combine the wisdom of Shaolin, Tai Chi, and Confucius into his philosophy of teaching.

Master Blue Siytangco

Sifu Blue Siytangco is a 12th Generation Lineage Holder for Chen Style Taijiquan and a 20th Generation Honorary Family Member of the Chen clan. He earned his title under the auspices of 19th Generation Master Cheng Jincai. With almost 30 years of experience in various martial arts systems, Master Siytangco has been training and teaching authentic Chen Style Taijiquan for over 15 years in Houston, Texas.

Master Trung Le

Head Instructor Trung Le and the students of the Tinh Luat Wushu-Kungfu school will be performing for us at the Texas Kung Fu Festival!

Instructor Trung Le studied Vo Binh Dinh (Vietnamese traditional martial arts), later expanding his skills by learning Shaolin Kungfu, competitive Wushu, and Tai Chi under Master Jason Jung.

Master YuChao Sun

34th Generation of Shaolin Temple Warrior Monk.

He first started practicing martial arts when he was four years old.

Entered Shaolin Temple at the age of ten and spent years of learning and training.

In 2006, participation in a troupe of Shaolin Warriors brought Master Chao to the United States.

He since has been settled here in Katy, Texas in 2008.

Today, his Katy Kungfu Center thrives as a school of traditional Shaolin teaching expertise with authentic 34th Generation Shaolin Temple Warrior Monk.

Master Michael Aronson

Please join us in welcoming Master Michael Aronson and the students of Texas Asian Martial Arts/Birds of Prey Kung Fu as they perform for us on April 22nd!

For 40 years, Master Michael Aronson has studied Chinese martial arts, including: Northern Eagle Claw Kung Fu under Grandmaster Leung Shum, Northern Shaolin Family Style Nine Birds under a top Grandmaster in Dallas, and Northern Long Fist/Shouthern White Crane/Yang Style Tai Chi under Grandmaster Jeff Bolt.

He is ranked at Master or Senior Instructor Level under all three of his teachers.

We are overly excited to announce the Teo Chew unicorn dragon and lion dancing team are going to perform at our event.
The Texas Teo Chew Association: Unicorn Dragon and Lion Dance Team is a troupe based in the heart of Houston’s Chinatown.
The team is comprised of performers from all walks of life whose desire is to perform, promote and protect the art of lion dancing and martial arts.
Their members are trained in various styles of Chinese martial arts along with studying lion dance history and its cultural significance.
Dragon and Lion dancing is a tradition that symbolizes power and is believed to bring good luck and prosperity to all. It is their hope to bring peace and happiness to you all at our event.

Master Dr. Robert Westbrook

The festival welcomes Dr. Robert Westbrook of The Center for Bio-Vibrational Science and his Wuji Sacred Arts students to perform at our event!

Master John Morris


Active in martial arts since 1969, Master John Morris is an 8th degree black belt in Shaolin Kempo Karate under Grandmaster Fred Villari. Master John Morris is also a Gracie Jiu Jitsu student under Royce Gracie and Pat Hardy. In addition, Master John Morris is also a former professional kickboxer and boxer with several championship titles, including 2015 IBJJF World No Gi Jiu Jitsu Champion.
Master John Morris has also been inducted into 6 martial art halls of fame and is a former US Army Ranger.

 

Changlu Wu/North America Youth Chinese Orchestra

Changlu Wu's masterly skills and knowledge in the music of the West and East dazzle her audiences worldwide.

Changlu Wu started her Pipa training the age of 6. She graduated from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music and then attended the University of Houston School of Music, majoring in piano Orchestra. She is the founder the North America Youth Chinese Orchestra, a non-profit organization that performs at various events.

The North America Youth Chinese Orchestra is a non- profit organization founded in 2012 by Changlu Wu .

Master James Smith

Professor James Smith began training in martial arts in Pittsburgh, PA in 1968. He has trained in many styles since then, including Okinawan Shorin Ryu, Wing Chun, Kenpo, Kodenkan Jiu Jit Su, and Shinjimasu (Shaolin Goju). Most recently, he was awarded Full Instructor's Certification in Thai Issh Man bo (Jeet Kune Do Concept) and is studying Yang Style Tai Ji. He remains a student for life and enjoys learning and sharing the arts.
He arrived in Houston in 1992 and began teaching Kenpo around that time. in 2011 he introduced to the world the American Institute of Martial Arts, "The New Generation of Kenpo."

 

Master Gary Durkovitz


Master Gary Durkovitz is a 7th degree black belt in Taekwondo (earning his 1st degree in Kukkiwon, the world Taekwondo headquarters, in 1978). He also has a 5th degree black belt in Hapkido and Aikido, as well as a 3rd degree black belt in Judo and Jiujitsu. Master Gary Durkovitz has traveled far, studying martial arts not only in the United States, but also in Thailand, Vietnam, and Korea.

He is the original owner/founder/master instructor of The Green Dragon School of Self-Defense (est. 1975). He continued teaching martial arts while in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Army. Presently he is involved with UMA school with Grandmaster Choi.

 

Master Raymond Lee Tyer


Sifu Raymond Lee Tyler is an Honorably Discharged U.S. Army & Navy Persian Gulf Veteran, a Texas Peace Officer, and a Retired Federal Law Enforcement Officer. He is the owner of Qi Gong Martial Arts and Tactical Weapons Training Center located in Southfield, Michigan. He has been studying martial arts for 29 years (since the age of 12), beginning with Taekwondo under Grandmaster Fred Simon. He continued training with American Kenpo, Aikido, Shaolin Kung Fu, Qi Gong, Tai Chi, Wing Chun Kung Fu, Jow Ga Kung Fu, Muay Thai, Muay Boran, Aikido, and Jujutsu.


He is currently 1st Dan Taekwondo under Kukkiwon, Sifu Wing Chun Kung Fu under International Wing Chun Martial Arts Association, Sifu Qigong under Qigong Supreme Science, Reiki Master/Teacher Mikao Usui system. He was nominated for the 11th Annual Kung Fu and Karate Festival Expo in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Master Donnie Lee

Master Lee is a 6th degree black belt. He has been teaching for over 29 years between his two schools (one in Texas and one in Lake Charles, LA) and produced many black belts. He is a student of Grand Master Bihn Bon (also known as Dong Wu). Training since the age of 12 and a half years old, Master Lee has now studied Tae Kwon Do, Aikido, Hapkido, Judo, and Kung Fu.

Master Johnny G. Peavey

Master Johnny G. Peavey is a 7th degree black belt and has been providing martial arts training in the Kingwood, Texas areas for over 35 years. He coached the USA National Team and traveled the world for various international martial arts tournaments. Master Mark Cheng

International Chen Style Tai Chi Development Center

In loving memory of Grandmaster Cheng Jincai, his son Mark Cheng and their students will be performing at the Texas Kung Fu Festival.

The International Chen Style Tai Chi Development Center was originally established by Grandmaster Cheng Jincai in 1994, welcoming students of all backgrounds and ages (ranging from 4 to 70). Their students have won medals at international and national competitions and are devoted to the development and promotion of Chen Style Tai Chi.

Master Jimmy Wong

Sifu Jimmy K. Wong is the sixth generation, direct lineage, of Wu(Hao) Tai Chi System. He is the U.S. Master for the International Chin Woo Federation headquartered in Shanghai, China, and is the founder and Head Master of the America Chin Woo center in Dallas, Texas.


Sifu Wong's mission is to make traditional-style Wu(Hao) Tai Chi available to everyone in the world.

Sifu Yang Junyi is a 5th generation Yang Style Taijiquan master, having studied under 4th generation Sifu Fu Zhongwen. He has been teaching Tai Chi for 40 years, 8 of which have been in Houston.
